  • Pink morning

    Pink morning

This photo was taken with a 720nm filter on the lens. To allow enough light in, the exposure time is 58 seconds. The long exposure gave the water a rather smooth surface which I like.

  • Moody morning

    Moody morning

I realize that the title "Moody morning" makes it sound as if I were in a bad mood. But that was not the case at all. My daughter and I were just visiting this beach to see if it would be a good place to enjoy the sunrise. The sky, however, looked quite moody...

  • Evening view

    Evening view

After a long car trip it felt good to stand outside on the porch for a while enjoying the sunset over a winter landscape.

  • Time for a winter bath

    Time for a winter bath

On my way home I passed this little frozen oasis. I almost considered taking a winter bath, but I hadn't brought my towel. Next time perhaps... :)

  • Sunset over the mountains

    Sunset over the mountains

I have captured this view before, during summer. That time I was eaten alive by about two million mosquitoes. This time, however, I was alone on the mountain.

  • Winter road

    Winter road

This is a panorama I made with my iPhone 11 Pro, while balancing on top of a big pile of snow next to this winter road. I think the phone did a pretty good job of letting the colors shift from a pale yellow to a turquoise blue.

  • Alone in the afternoon light

    Alone in the afternoon light

I was out walking in the snow enjoying the afternoon light, when I saw this tree backlit by the sunset. It was freezing cold, but I took off my warm gloves to capture a photo anyway. (Well, this picture is actually made up out of three photos using HDR technique.)

  • Behind the mountain

    Behind the mountain

The sunsets in Sälen are often quite nice. In winter, they also arrive quite early. I took this photo at about half past three in the afternoon and the sun was already down behind the mountain.

  • In the afternoon light

    In the afternoon light

Perhaps it wasn't a very good idea to bring the camera on the ski tour. Well, it was a good idea if the plan was to go on a photo tour. My plan, however, was to go cross-country skiing and exercise a bit. This afternoon I think I got more photos than training though.

  • Some morning drama

    Some morning drama

As my wife drove me to the train station, we passed this field with a view of the morning sun under a dramatic cloudscape. Naturally we had to stop, so that I could run out on the field with my camera to capture some morning drama.

  • Infrared morning

    Infrared morning

I spent the first hours of the day looking out over the water. My plan was to capture the sunrise over the lake. I also wanted to experiment a bit so I brought my converted camera as well. This is one of the photos I took with it.

  • Crazy and colorful

    Crazy and colorful

I usually try not to get too crazy when editing my photos. I want the pictures to be (at least somewhat) realistic. That rule, however, goes out the window when I use my full-spectrum converted camera. Then I like it to be a little bit crazy and a lot colorful. Like this photo for example. It's shot in the early morning light after an hour or so of capturing the sunrise.

  • Evening walk

    Evening walk

I titled this photo "Evening walk", but actually it's only afternoon. During winter in Sweden, the sun sets pretty early in the day. This day I was actually a bit nervous that it would go down too fast, so that I wouldn't find my way back. The snow was pretty deep and I wasn't really in the mood for wandering around in the snow in the dark.

  • End of a day in the snow

End of a day in the snow

The snow was about 50-60cm deep and it was not very easy to make a path through it. Needless to say, we were quite tired after a day full of playing and having fun in the snow under a bright blue sky. The sunset was rather enjoyable too.

  • Weight of winter

    Weight of winter

The trees are sparse on the mountain. This one was one of the tallest close to the top, but it seemed to struggle a bit with the weight of winter. I almost felt a little sorry for it.

  • Pink between the tops

    Pink between the tops

Due to climate changes, the trees are spreading higher and higher up on the mountain tops. It was difficult to find a clear view of the setting sun, but at least I saw some nice colors between the tops.

  • Winter tree in the sunset

    Winter tree in the sunset

The depth of the snow varied from 30-60 cm, it was cold and windy and not very pleasant at all. The view was rather nice though and I saw this winter tree watching the sun set behind the moutain tops. So it was a quite nice experience anyway.

  • Blue winter

    Blue winter

Finally we got to see a real winter landscape. And the light... Oh, I really do like this blue light in the sky. I took this photo with my iPhone 11 Pro and I think the phone did a pretty good job.

  • Colorful Pines

    Colorful Pines

After having been enjoying the blue and golden hour and watching the sun rise above the horizon, I turned around to capture this scene. The pines were lit by the early morning sun and got a bit extra colorful thanks to the 590nm filter on my full-spectrum converted Sony a6000.

  • Morning by the lake

    Morning by the lake

A few hours after sunrise, but still before the bathers would arrive, I was alone on the beach. The lake looked so peaceful then, before the arriving chaos. Well, the 40 second exposure helped to smooth out the water a bit...

  • Morning sun and morning mist

    Morning sun and morning mist

It was early morning in the middle of July. The family was still sleeping in our cottage so I sneaked out with my camera for a morning photowalk. (One of my habits apparently.) I found this view in a currently unused sheep pasture. I liked how the sunbeams lit up the morning mist. (The ground was still very wet from the night dew, so after another hour or so I had to head back home to dry my shoes in the sun.)

  • Not yet crowded

    Not yet crowded

Just a few hours after this photo was taken, these sunbeds would all be occupied. The beach would be crowded of people and the sun would stand high on the sky. I think I prefer the beach like this, not yet crowded.

  • An evening swim

    An evening swim

This is one of my favorite spots and I've loads of photos with this view. This evening I saw this couple enjoying an evening swim under a colorful sky.

  • Back to the Ocean

    Back to the Ocean

Almost every day I walked along this beach in the morning light waiting for the rest of the world to wake up. I often stopped and enjoyed these patterns in the sand. In their simplicity, they are very complicated and beautiful.

  • Stone Lake

    Stone Lake

After hiking for a few hours (with lots of stops for snacks and photos), we finally arrived at The Stone Lake. We were a bit tired and hesitated a few times on the way, but it was worth it when we saw this spectacular view.

  • Cloud Island

    Cloud Island

Here's another photo of that small island off Nai Yang Beach. I thought it looked cool when the clouds started to build above (and beyond) the island.

  • Desert meets ocean

    Desert meets ocean

It was early morning and the rest of the family was sleeping (as usual...). Being a creature of habit, I took my camera and went out for a morning walk. This time to the sand dunes in the desert. Despite the clouds, the colors of the morning sky were still quite nice.

  • Late night in BlueBay

    Late night in BlueBay

I don't know how many photos I've taken on this beach, but it's quite a few. The scenario is usually something like this: I am up in the house and see the colorful evening sky. I hurry to find my camera and run the few hundred meters down to the lake. Then, I only have a minute or two before the sun has gone too far down and the colors are gone. Sometimes those minutes are enough...

  • Tree of Shells

    Tree of Shells

I'm not sure why, but someone apparently thought it was a good idea to hang shells and stuff in this old tree. And I have to admit, even though I think it's a bit too much, it makes it look a bit more interesting.

  • Sunbeams in Nai Yang

    Sunbeams in Nai Yang

I've lost count on how many photos I've taken of the sunset in Nai Yang. I think this one is pretty cool where you can see the beams of the sun reaching up towards the sky, while the sun has already passed the horizon.

  • Sunset in Sälen

    Sunset in Sälen

We spent a few days in the family cottage. One of the evenings the sky was pretty nice so I figured I'd go out to take some sunset shots. I was not alone on the mountain though. It was me and about 2 billion mosquitoes...

  • Low tide at Coconut Beach

    Low tide at Coconut Beach

The tide was pretty evident on Coconut Beach and during low tide it was quite far to the water from the sunbeds. If my memory serves me right, the sand was a bit more white than it seems in this picture. But the sky was as blue and the water as turquoise.

  • Lookin' kinda yellow

    Lookin' kinda yellow

It's official! It's here! The season of yellow. I like the bright colors and the crisp air. I don't like the rain and a runny nose though.

  • Lone Long-Tail Boat

    Lone Long-Tail Boat

Quite a few of my photos from Thailand are of sunsets or long-tail boats. Some of them are of long-tail boats in the sunset. This one is from Nai Yang Beach. It used to be one of our favorite places in Thailand. But Nai Yang has changed the last few years and is not the same anymore. The sunsets are still rather nice though.

  • Resting on a cloud

    Resting on a cloud

More than once I spent the evening on the beach watching the sun go down into the sea. This evening there were a few clouds over the horizon and it almost looked like the sun was resting on a cloud... For a few seconds at least. Then it was behind the cloud instead. :)

  • Phuket Pano

    Phuket Pano

To get some variety and a break from all the bathing, we took a trip to the Big Buddha. It felt like it was the hottest day of the year (which it probably wasn't), but it was worth it. The view from the hilltop was rather nice and to capture it all (or actually only a part of it), I made this panorama.

  • Dead Bare Tree

    Dead Bare Tree

When walking along the beach, it's easy to only look out over the ocean and watch the horizon far, far away. I often forget to turn around and look the other way. This morning I did. I'm not sure why, but this dead old tree caught my eye.

  • Traces of water

    Traces of water

Nature is full of textures and patterns if we just look for them. Like these traces of water in the sand on Klong Jark Beach. I usually started the day with a walk in the morning sun, feeling the sand between my toes. Life could be worse.

  • Sunset in Uddevalla

    Sunset in Uddevalla

We always stay in the same hotel when we visit Uddevalla. And with this view, who can blame us. This panorama is shot from our balcony. From there you can see all the way from Uddevalla Bridge to the harbor.

  • Reaching for the water

    Reaching for the water

We only stayed in Khao Lak for a couple of days. Yet we visited this beach several times. It's called Coconut Beach and if I had turned the camera the other way, we would have seen all the palm trees lining the beach. This, however, is another tree, but I cannot determine what kind.

  • Low Tide in Khao Lak

    Low Tide in Khao Lak

One of the evenings in Khao Lak we had dinner at this place right next to the beach. It was a bit cloudy that day, but we could enjoy the sunset anyway.

  • The Many Colors of Koh Lanta

The Many Colors of Koh Lanta

I often mention my love for sunsets. Most of my sunset pictures seem to be captured by the water, watching the sun pass the horizon. This is one is clearly no exception. One thing that strikes me in particular with this evening is the multitude of colors. From grey to blue and purple, further on to magenta, red and orange. I love it! :)

  • Langkawi Evening

    Langkawi Evening

I've said it many times before; Langkawi has beautiful sunsets. This evening was not an exception and, as usual, we took an evening stroll along the beach. This Instagram friendly promenade is lined with photogenic palm trees, which make nice silhouettes in the setting sun.

  • Morning Glow

    Morning Glow

I woke up early (around 4 a.m.) and saw a strange light. Well, maybe it wasn't really that strange. It was just the sun waking up. But it sure gave the morning sky a wonderful glow!

  • Pier View

    Pier View

I spent a few days for work in the southwest and found this spot to enjoy the sunset. The sky wasn't quite as colorful as I would have liked, but it was a nice place anyway.

  • Spring sunset in Ängelholm

    Spring sunset in Ängelholm

When on business trips, I usually bring my camera and hope for opportunities for a photo walk or two. This time, the trip brought me to Ängelholm and I got the chance to enjoy the sunset at this nice stone pier.

  • Favorite spot

    Favorite spot

This was one of our favorite spots on Kho Lipe. Shallow water, pretty close to the coral reef, not too many sea urchins and a lot of sand to dig in. What more could you want? :) This photo is taken from the restaurant on top of the hill.
